[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The new hospital institution law
In 1968, a law to reform health care and hospital institutions, better known as the “Mariotti Law”, was passed. Even the Children’s Hospital, created thanks to the generosity of 19th century philanthropy, was now faced with the need to increasingly justify its public vocation to improve the health of children.

From the 90s to today
In the last thirty years, the Children’s Hospital has seen a long, unbroken period of growth. At the beginning of the 1990s, the Association for Care of Cardiopathic Children was born on the initiative of cardiologist Sigfrido Montella. Around the same time, various children’s surgeries were introduced (pediatric, orthopedic, vascular, ENT), and in 1999 the first pediatric ICU in Milan was created.

The key role of volunteers
In recent years, clinical activity has consistently been associated with the priceless work of volunteers: first, the more than 150 volunteers of ABIO; but also the OBM Association, which oversees important patient welfare initiatives in the hospital; the Theodora Foundation and its clown doctors; the Italian School for Rescue Dogs with its “heroes” of pet therapy; and many other volunteer initiatives that make our hospital unique.
The Foundation today
The Children’s Hospital can count on the Buzzi Children’s Hospital Foundation, which counts a number of the hospital’s chief physicians as board members. Our commitment is to further expand the opportunities for collaboration and support by all citizens who love Milan and its children.

Now you too, with your contribution, can write the history of the Children’s Hospital.
