1 in 33 children may have a congenital malformation. The causes of malformation in unborn children are varied: the mother’s age, alcohol abuse, folic acid deficiency, artificial insemina-tion, some infectious diseases…

A few short years ago, there was no solution. Today, instead, we can diagnose and treat children while they are still in the womb, changing the natural course of a number of pathological conditions, returning life to the fetus and hope to their family.

Highly sophisticated ultrasounds, fetal MRIs, quality care, and, often, surgical operations, may be needed before the child is born.

ur current Fetal Care center consists of two clinics equipped with ultrasound machines for fetal diagnosis and care.

The new Buzzi will include an expansion of the Fetal Care center and multidisciplinary inte-gration between Neonatal Pathology, Pediatric Surgery, Neuroradiology, and Anesthesia.

The new structure will require state-of-the-art instruments. In order to make early diagnoses and allow healthy babies to be born, we’ll need a new ultrasound machine.
